How Lewisville began
Lewisville sits in the south-central part of Summit Township, at a saddle that forms the headwaters of both Sunfish Creek (draining to the Ohio River) and the South Fork (draining to the Muskingum River system), making it a small but geographically notable crossroads. It hosted Summit Township's very first election on September 7, 1850, the same year the township itself organized, and grew to a twentieth-century peak of 294 residents in 1970 before declining to 184 by 2020, a 24.5 percent drop between 2010 and 2020 followed by a modest recovery. The village today serves as the crossing point of State Routes 78 and 145.

Stories
A village that sits on the divide
Lewisville occupies an unusual spot on the Monroe County map: a saddle in the ridgeline that serves as the headwaters for two entirely different watersheds. Water falling on one side of the village feeds Sunfish Creek, which flows east to the Ohio River; water falling on the other side feeds the South Fork, part of the Muskingum River system that eventually reaches the Ohio much farther north. That geography made the spot a natural crossroads long before Summit Township organized around it in 1850, and the village hosted the brand-new township's first election that September -- a fitting role for a place that had already been sitting, quite literally, at a dividing line.

Estimated, not measured. No rain gauge has ever stood inside Lewisville, so every figure here is worked out from the gauges around it - the nearest ones weighted most. Treat them as close estimates rather than readings.
49,938 days of records, 1889-09-01 to 2026-10-29. Source: NOAA NCEI GHCN-Daily, 3,240 gauges in and around Ohio. A day is "gauged" when a gauge standing inside the boundary reported it, and the value is the mean of those gauges. Otherwise it is interpolated by inverse distance from every gauge reporting within 50 miles. Nothing is carried forward, back-filled or smoothed. Against NOAA nClimDiv county monthly precipitation over 136,848 complete county-months (checked 2026-10-31): correlation 0.9515, median absolute difference 0.217 in a month. Built 2026-10-31 from the Cracked Buckeye precipitation archive. Snow is the softer number — snowfall is measured by hand with a ruler, no agency publishes a gridded county snowfall series, and blowing snow defeats every observer.
