Terms of use
The basics
Reading the site needs no agreement. Creating an account or contributing (notes, entries, photos, edits, reports, price reports) means you accept these terms. You must be 18 or older, keep one account with accurate details, and you are responsible for what is done through it.
What you contribute
You keep the copyright and confirm you have the right to share it. You grant Cracked Buckeye a permanent, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish, edit, adapt, translate, combine and reuse it, commercially included, and to let other members change it. Photos are under this licence only, not Creative Commons.
Shared text and its history
Any verified member can change a note or entry, with a short summary. Every version is kept in a public history and can be brought back. Photos and sourced facts cannot be changed by members; facts are corrected only on Corrections.
When what you write appears
Your first addition waits for a moderator; after that, most appear at once, marked "not yet reviewed". These always wait:
- every photo;
- anything about a private home or person, or a public official;
- contact details, many links, big removals and bursts of changes.
Reports
Anyone can report a note, entry or photo. When weighted reports on a version reach the threshold, it is hidden at once until a moderator decides.
Not allowed
False claims presented as fact, harassment or threats, other people's private information, spam or advertising, vandalism, photos you have no right to share, and anything illegal or infringing. We may remove anything and suspend or ban an account, with or without warning.
Deleting your account
Anything still waiting for a moderator is withdrawn; published work stays, credited to "Former member", as the privacy policy explains.
Copyright complaints
Email hello@crackedbuckeye.com with the work, the page URL, your contact details, a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that you are the owner or act for them, and your signature. A contributor whose work was removed may send a counter-notice under the DMCA.
No warranty, limited liability
The site is provided as is, with no warranty, and nothing on it is professional advice. To the fullest extent the law allows, Cracked Buckeye and the people who run it are not liable for damage from using it. These terms are governed by Ohio law. We may update them, and will ask you to accept a change that affects what you write.
