How long do residents here live?

The CDC's small-area life expectancy project estimated life expectancy at birth for every census tract from deaths in 2010 to 2015 and the 2010 census; the map weights the 2010 tracts into each ZIP by its 2020 block population and the card shows the spread across the ZIP's tracts. It is the average number of years a newborn would live if the tract's death rates of that period held for life, so a poor inner-city ZIP and a wealthy suburb ten miles apart can differ by fifteen years. The estimates are a decade old and carry standard errors of one to two years in small tracts.

1,214 of 1,233 ZIPs have data; median 77.9 years.
