How Washington Township, Holmes County began
Washington Township lies in southwestern Holmes County. Its clearest documented historic landmark is the Joseph L. DeYarmon House, an Italianate farmhouse built in the last quarter of the 19th century southwest of the unincorporated community of Lakeville, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The township also contains part of the village of Loudonville in its west (the larger part of that village lies across the line in Ashland County) and part of Nashville in its southeast, and its population grew from 1,457 in 1840 to 1,675 by the 2020 census.
