Data centers
Lora Covrett
I'm in IT. I know how important technology is and I want to help shape the role of technology in a way that makes sense for our district. Building data centers on rural farm land does not make sense. I will do the work to research opportunities for renewable energy like solar and wind while prioritizing the quiet beauty of our rural lives here in District 87.

That’s why there has to be a moratorium on data center applications right now. The state needs to take a hard look at the deal Kasich cut with the mega corporations and other players associated with this development, and look into rescinding it.

The gerrymandered guaranteed super-majority Republican Party hasn't listened to the average Ohioan for nearly 30 years, and that's why public education has suffered and public corruption has soared.

Ohioans have many other needs such as affordable childcare that is scarce in the 87th District, and is depriving hardworking parents from fully engaging in the economy and bettering their lives. The Bank of Ohio could provide crucial funding for new childcare start-ups throughout Ohio.

Craig Swartz
It's been 17 years since the Great Recession and Ohio, together with the Country, are facing an enormous shortage in affordable housing. My plan calls for creating a Bank of Ohio, a state public bank like the Bank of North Dakota, that would enable community banks, credit unions and other local banks to get critical funding to areas that desperately need new affordable housing units in order to bring down housing costs for homeowners and renters.

Property taxes
Lora Covrett
They're too high. But, abolishing property taxes is not the right answer. If your car's check engine light comes on, you don't throw away the car. You get a diagnostic test to find out what the problem is and then you look for the cheapest quote from a mechanic to fix the problem.

Roads and infrastructure
Lora Covrett
Challenging the overreach of projects like the US 23/I-71 corridor study and ensuring that eminent domain is never used to benefit private interests at the expense of residents. The legislature created this "problem" then asked ODOT to solve it with our tax dollars wasted on a study for a highway nobody wants or needs in District 87. I will vote NO to funding this road. I will vote NO to funding anything that doesn't prioritize farms, residential communities, and wildlife habitats.

Why they are running
Lora Covrett
My bills are going up and my family’s healthcare benefits are shrinking while the GOP-led Ohio legislature keeps giving tax cuts to corporations and ignoring everyday working people like you and me.
