The record does not settle it
The record: How accurate are Democrats' attacks on GOP opponents about opposing Iran war's end?
Context
The release also quotes Brown: "Jon Husted voted 13 times for the war in Iran that has raised the price of diesel and fertilizer for truckers and for farmers, and gas and groceries for all of us." The campaign later moved to "14 times": PolitiFact's Oct. 20 roundup quotes an Oct. 14 Brown ad, "voted 14 times for the war in Iran pushing gas, diesel prices to record highs," and says "This needs context." (its wording for that line; it is a label in a roundup, not a Truth-O-Meter rating, so it is a source here and not a check). No sponsor upload of the Oct. 14 version was found on a readable host; Brown's YouTube channel list read Oct. 23 does not show it. What the 13 or 14 votes were: PolitiFact says "Only one of Husted's votes was on a resolution to end the war itself; the other 13 times he cast votes on procedural motions, keeping resolutions from coming to the floor," one in 2025 and the rest in 2026. Its source list names 13 Senate votes from June 27, 2025 through July 30, 2026, which matches the 13 in this Aug. 24 ad, and a 14th on Sept. 24, 2026 (the Oct. 14 ad's number). Husted's spokesperson Amy Natoce told PolitiFact "a vote against a War Powers Resolution is not a vote 'to continue the Iran War.'" Whether a vote against such a resolution is a vote "for the war" is a characterization the roll calls do not settle. The "$100 billion" clause is not examined by any source read.
