About this area's water Clyde City

Did you know
  • Clyde's first water works (1883-86) drew on what is now the town's community park pond, along with artesian wells — the whole system, including 18,215 feet of main and 38 hydrants, cost $33,092.95.
  • The 2.4 MGD plant Clyde still uses exists because a Citizens Water Committee, on May 18, 1992, talked the city council out of a larger proposal and into hiring a new engineering firm to design a smaller, cheaper plant.
  • A water tower was built at Woodland Avenue in 2001 in conjunction with the Whirlpool plant in Clyde.
  • Before 1885 Clyde fought fires with cisterns built into the streets and filled by surface drainage.

History6
  • pre-1885Clyde had no reliable water supply; fire cisterns built at intervals in the streets and filled from surface drainage were depended on for fighting fires.
  • 1883-86First public supply works developed, using what is now the community park pond, artesian wells, and 18,215 feet of main pipe with 38 fire hydrants. Total project cost $33,092.95.
  • 1939Existing 250,000-gallon clearwell constructed between the pond and the water works drive.
  • 1949-50Existing treatment plant and Raccoon Creek Reservoir constructed at a total project cost of $800,000.
  • 1970-71Major water system improvements: Beaver Creek Reservoir, Beaver Creek pump house, raw water pipeline, Meadow Lane water tank, and rehabilitation of the treatment plant.
  • 1973New fluoridation equipment installed.

Estimated, not measured. No rain gauge has ever stood inside 44836 (Green Springs), so every figure here is worked out from the gauges around it - the nearest ones weighted most. Treat them as close estimates rather than readings.

48,702 days of records, 1893-04-01 to 2026-10-28. Source: NOAA NCEI GHCN-Daily, 3,240 gauges in and around Ohio. A day is "gauged" when a gauge standing inside the boundary reported it, and the value is the mean of those gauges. Otherwise it is interpolated by inverse distance from every gauge reporting within 50 miles. Nothing is carried forward, back-filled or smoothed. Against NOAA nClimDiv county monthly precipitation over 136,848 complete county-months (checked 2026-10-31): correlation 0.9515, median absolute difference 0.217 in a month. Built 2026-10-31 from the Cracked Buckeye precipitation archive. Snow is the softer number — snowfall is measured by hand with a ruler, no agency publishes a gridded county snowfall series, and blowing snow defeats every observer.

Facilities are placed on the map from Ohio EPA's own map layers, EPA's Facility Registry, coordinates written in the filings, or a geocoded street address. A permit filed under a private person's name (most are household septic systems) is counted but never named, placed or linked; licenses for individual workers and open-burning notices are left out entirely.
