Our check against the record

The record does not settle it

Checked against The Ohio unemployment rate (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics series LASST390000000000003, seasonally adjusted): 3.3 percent in August 2026, the lowest month in the series; but the state series begins in January 1976, so it cannot show the lowest in Ohio's history, and the August figure is preliminary.

The record: Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS), series LASST390000000000003 (Ohio, unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted)
