Context
The advertisement shows an on-screen citation of a July 19, 2023 interview with Brown on WSYX-TV, and Ohio law has barred physicians from performing gender reassignment surgery on minors since April 24, 2024. On Dec. 18, 2024 Brown voted Yea on the final defense bill for fiscal 2025 (Senate roll call 325, agreed to 85-14), whose Section 708 bars military health coverage of gender-dysphoria treatments that could result in sterilization for a child under 18. In the WSYX interview, FactCheck.org reports, Brown was asked about a federal bill to ban gender-affirming care for minors, with fines or prison time for anyone providing it, and said that a child's health care decisions are between them, their parents, their families and their doctors.
