We removed every house in this Ohio town
Heath, Ohio, from the air, then with every house and tree taken away. The bare-earth picture comes from the U.S. Geological Survey's lidar: lasers flown over Ohio that measure the ground itself. In the middle is the Great Circle, nearly 1,200 feet across, with walls and a ditch 8 to 13 feet high and deep. The Hopewell built it about 2,000 years ago, one basket of earth at a time. In 2023 it became part of Ohio's first World Heritage Site.
