His April 2025 Ohio Ethics Commission disclosure listed more than 42 gifts worth at least $75 each, totaling at least $3,100, from lobbyists, company executives and other politically connected Ohioans, the largest count among the 2026 statewide candidates the outlet reviewed. Among the names were a lobbyist for the gaming company Intralot, which holds the Ohio Lottery’s central gaming-system contract and who is a former legislative aide of his. Edwards told the reporter he had likely overreported by listing names from his calendar and that some listed givers had given him nothing.
