How high is the school property tax?
The Ohio Department of Taxation's aggregate property tax rates by school district for tax year 2025: the effective Class I (residential and agricultural) millage each district collects after the reduction factors that hold voted levies to the dollars first approved, weighted across the districts a ZIP's residents live in. School levies are usually the largest share of an Ohio property tax bill but not all of it; county, city or township, library, park and vocational-school millage are collected in the same bill and are not in this table, and the 10 percent and owner-occupancy credits, homestead exemption and any new levies since 2025 change what a household pays. The card now also lists the municipal income tax, school district income tax and combined sales tax rate for the ZIP from the Department of Taxation's Finder tables.
1,229 of 1,233 ZIPs have data; median 24.9 mills.
