In 2024 he ran an independent presidential campaign in Ohio only, with running mate Mitchell Preston Bupp, collecting the signatures required for ballot access; the 2024-president race record's result.totals gives him 12,805 votes (0.22 percent) and does not flag him as a write-in there, unlike several other minor candidates on that same list. Identity across the two races is confirmed by the shared name and Aurora, Ohio residence, and by the Athens Messenger's account of his run for president 'a fifth time since 2004, but only in Ohio' (consistent with a separate, one-off 2006 U.S. Senate write-in bid).
