Government accountability

For too long our state government has been plagued with corruption that’s worked out well for special interests while leaving the rest of our state struggling with rising costs and communities like mine deprived of critical resources.

Tax dollars and local communities

As Auditor I plan to tackle this corruption and safeguard our tax dollars by holding bad actors accountable, but I also want to partner with communities across the state so they can provide a safe and affordable place to live for working families in every corner of Ohio.

Record in office

  1. February 13, 2024 · statement

Said in February 2024 that she had been approached by Councilwoman Edwina Agee in a way that was aggressive and unwelcome after a February 7, 2024 council meeting, and the matter was referred to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office for an independent investigation. No criminal charges were filed in the coverage the research archive found, and that coverage shows no public resolution of the investigation.

Council members Edwina Agee, Tina Stafford-Marbury and Tanglyn Madden, in a joint statement reported by Cleveland 19 News: TOTALLY FALSE · the source

  2. 2021 · action

Under her administration Maple Heights received the Ohio Auditor of State’s Clean Audit Award each year from 2021 through 2023, and campaign and local coverage report further clean-audit recognition as recently as February 2026.

  3. November 18, 2020 · action

Maple Heights left the state fiscal emergency it had been placed in on February 13, 2015, five weeks before she took office. The state had projected at least five years to exit it. The city’s general fund went from a $2.7 million deficit in 2016 to a $2.2 million surplus in 2019, and the state released the city from fiscal emergency on November 18, 2020.

  4. 2020 · action

Backed the city’s 2020 lawsuit seeking to make Netflix and Hulu pay municipal franchise fees of up to 5 percent of Ohio-derived gross revenue as video service providers. The Ohio Supreme Court held in 2022 that streaming services are not video service providers under Ohio law and owe no local franchise fees.
