Haydenville, last company-owned town in Ohio
Founded in 1852 and named for Peter Hayden, Haydenville was described as the last entirely owned company town in Ohio. Workers were paid in scrip good only at company stores, until National Fireproofing bought the operation in the early 1960s and let residents buy their homes. It became a historic district in 1973.
