Context
Cledith Arthur, the husband of Acton's mother, was arrested in July 1978 on a charge of raping Acton, then 12, and indicted that September. He did not appear at a court hearing, was declared a fugitive and died in 2004 without a trial; the records as reported show no conviction. Donna Arthur married him in 1975 and remained married to him at his death, the Statehouse News Bureau and The 19th report. The statement answers the Ramaswamy campaign's ad featuring her.
