The ad referred to Portman's vote against the Democratic Feinstein amendment, which PolitiFact found was one of two competing 2016 Senate gun-and-terrorism-watch-list amendments; Portman instead supported the Republican Cornyn amendment, which also addressed watch-list gun purchases but with judicial-review safeguards.
